I ordered this book from a Scholastic Book Club so all I had to go on was a short description. I'm glad I took a chance and purchased it. It has a great fluid, rhyming text that makes it a fun read-aloud. The setting is a quiet cafe until a bus full of loud, at times rude and demanding, animals barge in making all sorts of demands on the waiter and cook. One of our favorite characters is the skateboarding cow. She steals the show! A massive food fight breaks out which pushes the frazzled waiter over the edge. He kicks all the animals out. The story ends with our favorite character, the skateboarding cow, taking ownership of the abandoned cafe. Hopefully, there will be another story about the cow. The illustrations are delightful and add to the story. This is one I will be happy to reread with my daughter.

Swish, zoom, swish. Clickety-clack! When a bus full of critters breaks down, a sleepy roadside cafÉ suddenly wakes up! Raccoons, elephants, zebras, and rams are only a few of the many animals demanding grub, and it is all that a cook and a waiter can do to keep up. But when Skateboard Cow swerves her way through the crowd, more than a few feathers are guaranteed to be ruffled! Rhythmic text and energetic illustrations combine for a romp of pure fun and entertainment.
